Biography sketch 

Wallis completed his Dental Technology training in New Zealand 1969.

His desire to do ceramics led him to Australia.

He established his own crown and bridge laboratory in Sydney 1973.

Owned and directed Wallis Franklin Ceramists commercial Lab.

Specializing in complex reconstruction ( crown and bridge implant cases ).

Clients included several prominent prosthodontists.

Has been technical advisor to Master of Dental Science programme in prosthodontics, University of Sydney.

Wallis has lectured to Dental Clinicians and Dental Technicians.

 

Topics include:-

- Porcelain margins and porcelain occlusal contacts.

- Occlusal form and aesthetics with dental ceramics.

- Restoring facial contours consequent to loss of tooth, tissue and bone.

- Porcelain veneers.

- Aesthetics of tooth form and colour, The shape of teeth.

- Dentistry made difficult.

- Problems associated with 17 degree angulated abutments.

- Interconnecting tooth and implant abutments, preserving biological and mechanical integrity.

- Technical aspects of implantology.

 

Had article published in Dental Technologies magazine 2000 ( France & UK ) on building porcelain “ live “ in the patients mouth to obtain predictable aesthetic results.

Wallis developed this technique to satisfy the highest expectations of the patient.

Also the Dental Technician is recognized as a skilled and important person within the Dental Team.

Wallis worked closely for more than 30 years with the highly regarded internationally recognised Professor Terry Walton, who gave him the opportunity to create many complex crown, bridge and implant cases.

Wallis retired from his Laboratory in 2019 and handed over the responsibilities to his daughter, Sarah Franklin who is continuing with the creation of beautiful dental ceramics.
